Description

This pair of 18th-century buildings, numbered 96 and 98 High Street, Norton, was altered in the late 19th century with the addition of square bays to either side of a central entrance. The buildings are constructed of brick with an overlapping eaves course and a pantile roof. They feature two chimneys. The original facade has two storeys and five windows on the first floor, which contain glazing bar sash windows in flush moulded frames with flat arches and stone keys. The late 19th-century square bays have stone cornices and shaped parapets. A late 19th- or early 20th-century central doorway features an eaved architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and a dentil pediment, above a six-panel door with a rectangular light above and smaller flanking lights, all with flat arches and stone keys. A large three-storey extension is located at the rear of the property.
