Description
Hill House Farmhouse is a late 17th-century building that has been altered over time. The walls are now covered in pebbledash, and the roof has been replaced with asbestos slates. This farmhouse follows the Teesside pattern and includes a hind's cottage and a gabled rear wing. It stands two storeys high with three wide windows, and features chimneys at both ends and along the party wall. The house is now unified as one structure. The door and windows have been modernized. The roof is very high-pitched and retains one old brick chimney, while the others have been rebuilt. Inside, there are two early beams, one with stop-chamfered ends and the other a fireplace beam with a run-out chamfer, although the inglenook fireplace has been bricked up. The staircase has been renewed, and there is a small pentice in the angle behind the house.
