Description

The farmhouse, dating from around 1760, was extended in the mid-19th century by the addition of eleven courses of brick. Constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof and stone ridge copings, it features three gable stacks. The original two-bay design was altered with the addition of mid-19th century canted bay windows on the ground floor, containing sash windows with glazing bars and decorative cornices with pendants. A central doorway is framed by a timber pilaster-and-entablature surround, with panelled reveals, a six-panelled door, sidelights, and a rectangular fanlight with geometric and coloured glass. First-floor windows are also sash windows, with glazing bars and painted stone sills. A "Phoenix" fire insurance plaque is located above the doorway. The listing also includes the adjoining former farm cottage to the right (east). This cottage, built in the mid-19th century using matching materials and proportions, has stone gable copings with kneelers. It has two storeys and one bay, with alterations to the ground floor window and a sash window with glazing bars and a painted sill on the first floor.
