Description

The Zetland Estate Office is a late 19th-century estate office built for Lord Zetland. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a roof made of plain tiles, complete with a stone chimney and gable copings. Designed in the Vernacular Revival style, the building is single-storey with a two-window range.

The central gabled porch has a door consisting of two panels and two glazed top panels, set within a double-chamfered surround that includes broach stops and a labelmould. There is a blank shield at the peak of the gable, and block kneelers support the chamfered gable coping. The two-light windows on either side of the porch are framed by chamfered surrounds and mullions, positioned beneath deep eaves that display exposed rafter ends. The steep roof features a central corniced chimney with a plinth string and squat tapered yellow pots. The returns of the building have four-light mullion and transom windows.

Although the interior was not inspected, the Zetland Estate Office is part of a significant group of buildings surrounding Marske Hall, which adds to its importance.
