Description
This is a buttress with a coat of arms located about 2 meters east of the Turner Mausoleum. The cartouche dates from around 1742, while the buttress itself was added in 1980. It is made of Portland stone and features a random rubble design. The battered buttress supports a cartouche displaying the coat of arms of Marwood William Turner, who died in 1739. The arms are quartered and include the families Turner, Pepys, Marwood, and Cholmley, topped with a scalloped crest. The cartouche was originally suspended from the drum of the Turner Mausoleum.
