Description
The Ravensworth Statue and Fountain is a drinking fountain and statue located in Whittingham Village, built in 1905. It is made of sandstone ashlar with marble coping around the basin. The structure features a corniced octagonal column resting on a square base, which supports a statue of Athole, the 3rd Earl of Ravensworth, accompanied by his dog. The Earl is depicted holding a stick and wearing a scarf and a trilby hat. Surrounding the statue is an octagonal basin with moulded coping. The fountain was erected by the Countess Caroline, his wife, and the base bears an inscription dedicating the fountain, which includes texts from the 23rd psalm.
