Description
North Hazelrigg Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that underwent extensive alterations in the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared and dressed stone with rusticated quoins. The building features a three-bay front with one-storey, one-bay wings, a rear projection, and an extruded outshut. The entrance includes a round-headed doorway with a moulded stone surround and a patterned fanlight above. The windows are renewed sash style with raised surrounds. The rusticated quoins are present on all corners, including the one-storey outshut, indicating they are part of the early Victorian remodelling.
Inside, the farmhouse has round and elliptical arches in the hall, an early 19th-century staircase, six-panelled doors, and window reveals. The front door was replaced in the 20th century.
The farmhouse was the home of John Bailey, a notable agriculturalist in the 18th century.
