Description

Holburn Mill is a corn mill dating to the early 19th century, built on earlier foundations. The lower courses of the walls are partly of random rubble, while the remainder is dressed stone. It has a Welsh slate roof. The mill is three storeys high with four irregular bays. A wide, stable-type door is located on the right-hand side. The windows vary in type, including Yorkshire sashes and half-slatted windows, all set within tooled-and-margined surrounds with projecting sills. The gabled roof has overlapping coping, and a square ashlar lateral stack is present. A dovecote is incorporated into the left-hand gable. A matching opening is found on the two-storey rear facade, leading to a boarded two-leaf door accessed by three steps. The mill retains its overshot water wheel and complete mill workings inside.
