Description

The property at 7 Radcliffe Road is a house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of random rubble, topped with a Welsh slate roof, and is arranged in three sections. The two-storey central section features a boarded front door on the left and a two-light window with a wooden mullion to the right. A matching window is located above. A single-storey, one-bay section adjoins the left side, also with a similar window. A lean-to extension is situated on the right side, incorporating a six-pane casement window. The roof has a gabled shape, topped with a corniced ridge stack. The house is notable as the birthplace of Grace Darling on November 24th, 1815, and is included on the heritage listing partly due to this historical significance.
