Description
This guide post, located on the west side of a road junction 400 metres north of Hedgeley Hall, was likely made in the late 19th century by the Alnwick Foundry. It is constructed of cast iron, featuring a grey-painted circular shaft with a moulded base, head, and finial, all stamped with the foundry's name. The arms of the guide post, which are black on a white background and have clipped corners, are bolted onto the head of the shaft. The distances indicated on the arms are: Beanley ¾ mile, Eglingham 2¾ miles, Hedgeley Station 1 mile, and Titlington 2½ miles. The overall height of the guide post is 2.5 metres.
