Description
The Methodist Church, built in 1786 and restored in 1886, is a two-storey meeting house located on Chapel Lane. The building features four windows on the south side, constructed of ashlar with a moulded eaves cornice. It has a slate roof with coped verges and apex stones, along with a small central gable topped with a cross and a foiled tablet displaying the dates of construction and restoration. The first-floor windows have depressed arch heads with two and three pointed lights, while the ground floor has five windows—four with three lights and one single light—featuring pointed shouldered heads that cut through a string course. The north elevation includes two first-floor windows and a tablet inscribed "Wesleyan Chapel 1786." At the west end, there is a projecting two-storey extension with a gabled half dormer. The north front has two porches from 1886 with fretted bargeboards flanking a four-light bay, and the doorways have cusped arches. Inside, the church contains a panelled pulpit from which John Wesley preached, and there is a dentil cornice on the upper floor.
