Description

The retaining wall to the churchyard is a Grade II listed structure located on the east side of Canongate. The wall begins at the churchyard gates, standing approximately 6 feet high, and increases in height as the road slopes downward. The first 40 to 50 yards of the wall is constructed from rough ashlar and rubble. Following this section, there is a stretch that reaches about 12 feet high, made of ashlar and featuring capped wall buttresses. The wall then transitions into a terraced and slightly curved design.
