Description
Blackcleugh Farmhouse and adjacent farm buildings date from the 18th century and were altered in the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble with dressings, and the farmhouse is whitewashed with stone slate roofs. The house is two storeys high with two wide bays. It features a gabled porch with a boarded door located to the right of centre, a 16-pane sash window to the left, and a 12-pane sash window to the right, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor as well. The stacks have been rebuilt in brick, with one at the ridge and another on the right gable, the latter adorned with a modillion cornice.
The farm building to the left has two doorways; the left one is a 19th-century addition, while the right doorway features a narrow chamfer. There are slit vents and a pitching door above. The left side of the building shows a blocked central door and three tiers of slit vents. The rear elevation has slit vents and a first-floor door with a narrow chamfer. Inside, the original doors have segmental rear arches, and the structure includes principal-rafter trusses with collars.
