Description
The cottages at 5 and 6 Newton Village date from the mid-19th century. They are built of squared, tooled stone with cut stone dressings, and have renewed pantile roofs, with rebuilt brick stacks. The cottages are single-storied and two bays wide. Each cottage has a renewed door flanked by paired six-pane casement windows, all set within chamfered surrounds. Number 6 has a second door on the left-hand side, which is now blocked. The right-hand gable has a coping detail on a moulded kneeler. A right-hand end stack and a ridge stack have been rebuilt on their original bases. A later brick outshut at the rear is not of particular architectural interest. The cottages are included in the listing for their group value.
