Description

This is a milepost located 150 metres south of the entrance to North Moor Farm, likely dating from the late 19th century and made by Smith Paterson of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and painted red, featuring black figures. The milepost stands 0.55 metres tall and has a faceted twin-faced design with an oval top on a fluted shaft. Above a decorative ring, there is a maker's plate. The raised lettering indicates the distances to Morpeth and North Shields, stating "MORPETH / N. SHIELDS 9 / 7½ MILES."
