Description

The barn and shelter sheds at Avenue Farm North are a 18th century structure that was built or remodeled in 1841-1842. The buildings are constructed from rubble with dressed stone detailing, featuring a slate roof on the barn and pantiles on the shelter sheds. The layout is L-shaped, enclosing a farmyard on the north and west sides.

The barn includes a stable door, two small windows, a boarded pitching door, and three tiers of slit vents. It has coped gables with moulded kneelers. The right side of the barn features boarded double doors set in a segmental arch. The shelter sheds consist of six bays with three pairs of segmental arches. The left section has a datestone from 1842, while the right section appears to be a later addition but has a datestone from 1841. The right gable also has coped detailing with moulded kneelers.
