Description
The gatepiers, gates, and ha-ha wall at the entrance to Seaton Delaval Hall date from the 18th century, with the gates being renewed in the 20th century. They are constructed from squared stone and wrought iron. The flat-topped roadside ha-ha wall is curved in at the center, leading to square piers that have moulded caps topped with ball finials on swept bases. The double gates feature double top and bottom rails, crossed diagonal rails in the center, decorative scrolly ornamentation, and bars with alternating canted and wavy tops.
