Description
The coach house and attached yard walls to the east of Seaton Delaval Hall date from the early 18th century, except for the screen wall on the south, which is part of the east wing built around 1770 and was burned down in 1822. The structure is made of squared tooled stone. The coach house features three bays with a plinth, an impost band, and an arcade of elliptical arches; the left arch is blind while the other two hold boarded double doors, and it has a flat roof. At the rear, there are five 18-pane sash windows in architraves that help unify the range with the north facade of the stable wing of the Hall. To the right of the coach house, a similar arch serves as the entrance to the yard.
On the eastern side of the yard, there is a lower wall with a gateway near the center, which has square piers with a moulded string and block capitals. The 6-bay screen wall on the south features blocked windows in architraves.
