Description
This milepost, located 130 metres south of Blackbog Burn bridge, dates from the late 19th century and is likely made by Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white with black figures. The milepost features an oval top with faceted twin faces, mounted on a circular fluted shaft. The raised inscription indicates distances to Alnwick (2 miles) and Chatton (12¾ miles). The height of the milepost is 0.45 metres.
