Description

This is an 18th-century garden wall with a range of outbuildings attached to the rear, dated 1918. The wall is constructed of coursed, tooled stone with cut dressings, while the outbuildings are of roughly-coursed rubble with rock-faced-and-margined dressings, and have a red clay tile roof.

A very tall section at the west end is castellated, featuring two large stepped buttresses behind. The following section, of similar height but with flat coping, ramps down to the right and has a ball finial. Behind this is a single-storey, five-bay outbuilding range. The range is symmetrical and has a plinth. The central bay features double doors under a raised parapet, decorated with mask corbels and a datestone surrounded by a reused wreath. Flanking bays each contain a central ledged and boarded door flanked by segmental-headed windows with iron lattice glazing. All doors are ledged and boarded, with interlaced heads. To the east are two lower castellated sections of wall, stepped down and connected to a brick wall around the garden with a ball finial at the step. A long, lean-to shed on the south side of the third wall section is not of architectural interest.
