Description
Broome Hill Farmhouse is a house dated 1809, marked by a stone shield featuring the initials W B, which stands for William Burwell, located on the north porch. The south porch was added in the later 19th century. The building is constructed from squared roughly-tooled stone and has a Welsh slate roof, with the upper parts of the stacks rebuilt in brick. It has a double-depth plan and the south elevation is two storeys high with three symmetrical bays. The central gabled porch has a renewed casement window and a boarded door on the right side. The windows are 12-pane sashes, some of which have been renewed, and feature slightly-projecting sills. The house has a moulded eaves cornice, coped gables, and stepped-and-banded end stacks. The left return displays a blind window flanked by 12-pane sashes on the ground floor, two blind windows and a 12-pane sash above, along with a renewed 9-pane central attic casement. The rear elevation features an arched 12-pane sash stair window with a radial-glazed head.
Inside, the farmhouse includes six-panel doors, a segmental arch with a four-pane overlight from the entrance hall, a dog-leg stair with stick balusters, a ramped and moulded handrail, and moulded newels.
