Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of six houses, numbered 18 to 24 Shafter Street, Haydon Bridge. The houses are constructed of squared stone with tooled ashlar dressings and have slate roofs with altered chimney stacks. A first-floor band runs along the front. Each house has two storeys and two windows. They feature six-panel doors, two of which have been altered, each with an oblong fanlight above. The windows are 16-pane sashes, some of which have been replaced. Number 18 has had its window openings renewed, and it is included in the listing primarily for its contribution to the group value of the terrace. A central elliptical-headed entrance provides access to a yard.
