Description

Acomb Mill House is a mill house dating to 1728, with initials R I (Richard and ? Ridley) carved into the lintel. It was restored and extended in 1980. The house is built of rubble with cut stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with three irregular bays. A 20th-century addition to the left is in matching style and materials. The central entrance door in the original section has a chamfered stone surround and a dated lintel featuring the secondary inscriptions "Ts RIDLEY 1780" and "RD RIDEEY 1810." The original part of the house has renewed four-pane sash windows, with tooled lintels above. A corniced stack is located at the left end. To the right stands the adjacent Old Mill. A 20th-century extension to the rear is not considered to be of architectural significance.
