Description
There are eight boundary stones located on the boundary with Alnwick Civil Parish, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. These stones are made of cut sandstone and are rectangular pillars that stand between 0.70 and 1.00 metre high, featuring arched or segmental tops. Each stone has incised letters "N A.M" on the east side, indicating the Duke of Northumberland's ownership of Alnwick Moor, with the "A.M" sometimes appearing in a sunk rectangular panel. On the west side, the letter "P" represents Pawson. Alnwick Moor was the site of several land disputes between the Duke and the Freemen of Alnwick during the 18th century.
