Description

This is a bridge built in the mid-18th century for Sir William Middleton, located approximately 350 yards north of Belsay Castle. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a single segmental arch with rusticated voussoirs and a projecting keystone. There is a band at the base of the parapet, which is supported by square stone end piers topped with pyramidal caps. The parapet has arched coping, and there are short approach walls that slightly ramp down on the north side, ending in similar piers.
