Description
The loose-box range located 25 metres southeast of Broomhouse Farmhouse dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared stone in narrow courses, featuring stone dressings. The roof is covered with Welsh slates at the front and stone flags at the rear. The building has two storeys and consists of six bays, with flush quoins and an off-centre external stone stair. There is a doorway with alternating jambs on the left side, above which are four breathers. The stair leads to a first-floor boarded door that has an identical surround, with an 8-pane sash window to the right. The two first-floor bays on the right were used as living quarters and include a cast-iron fire grate set in a stone surround. At the rear, there is a continuous single-storey outshut with a pent roof. A late 20th-century shed at the right end bays is not of special interest. This building is included for its group value.
