Description

The gate piers located approximately 30 yards south of Halton Castle date from around 1700 and are constructed of ashlar. They are two tall square piers, each about 12 feet high, featuring bulgy rustication. The piers are divided into three stages, measuring approximately 3 feet, 6 feet, and 1 foot, with a cornice at each stage. At the top, they are capped by four scrolls that hold urns.
