Description
The stable block, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 40 yards west of Fowberry Tower. It is constructed from coursed and dressed stone and features a slate roof. The building forms three sides of a quadrangle, with the fourth side closed off by a garden wall.
The entrance front has a projecting central bay that includes an open pediment and a stone ridge chimney stack with an overhanging cornice. There are square casement windows on either side, with the right one designed in trompe l'oeil. To the left, there is a high round entrance arch, while a lower arch to the right is blocked.
Inside the yard, there is a carriage house to the right, which has a dovecote above and a renewed pyramid roof. Opposite the entrance is a higher hay shed, and to the left are low 20th-century lean-to sheds that lean against the garden wall. The 20th-century sheds are not considered to be of special interest.
