Description

This is a gravestone located 15 yards south-west of the Church of St. Michael in Alwinton, dating from 1779. It is made of sandstone and stands approximately 2 feet high. The gravestone features an eared segmental top and has a worn inscription. On the rear, there is a primitive carving of a female figure set in a niche, notable for its unusually high relief carving.
