Description
The building is a dovecote located 100 metres north of the Old Vicarage in Embleton Village, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of brick in Flemish garden wall bond 1 + 3, resting on stone footings, and features a pantile roof. The dovecote measures 4.6 metres square. On the south side, there is a door positioned left of centre, which is topped by a timber lintel, and above it are four blocked pigeon holes. The eaves are adorned with a stepped cogged cornice, and the roof is pyramidal in shape.
Inside, the upper section contains seven tiers of wall boxes with alighting bands between them, while the lower part has blocked boxes and the shelves have been removed. The floor has largely been taken out. The adjacent pent outbuildings are not considered to be of special interest.
