Description
The Village Pant, built in 1911 by George Reavill of Alnwick, is a notable structure located on Front Street in Embleton. Constructed from ashlar stone, it features a Shap granite basin and bowls, along with bronze fittings. The pant has a square plan with pilasters set diagonally at each corner. On the west side, there is a shaped basin on a base with an arched recess, which includes an inscription that reads, "ERECTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF EMBLETON & DISTRICT TO COMMEMORATE THE CORONATION OF THEIR GRACIOUS MAJESTIES KING GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY JUNE 22ND 1911." The structure is topped with a boldly projecting cornice adorned with egg-and-dart ornamentation and a flattened dome cap. The sides feature projecting semicircular bowls with patterned floral plates where taps have been removed. A small wooden door is located at the rear.
