Description

Embleton Cottage is a cottage built around 1840. It is constructed from squared whinstone with raised sandstone quoins and dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The cottage is a single storey with three symmetrical bays. The central door is vertically panelled and set under a four-centred arch, flanked by small pointed lights, all of which are covered by a common hoodmould. The end bays feature paired 8-pane sash windows beneath moulded cornices. All openings have surrounds with extended lintels, sills, and mid-blocks. The eaves cornice is chamfered, and the gable ends have pitched coping on moulded kneelers. There are stepped-and-corniced stacks at both ends and on the ridge to the right of centre.
