Description
19 and 21 Priestpopple are early 18th century buildings that stand three storeys tall and feature five windows, with a two-storey, three-window wing (No 21) to the east. The buildings are rendered and have raised quoins, along with quoined and rusticated window dressings similar to those found on the Simonburn Rectory. They have glazing bar sash windows with rusticated flat arches and aprons above. The central entrance is treated similarly. The rear of the buildings is stone-built and includes two gabled extensions. There is a six-panel door with a rectangular traceried fanlight, and the windows have panelled shutters and soffits. The eastern wing (No 21) features rusticated architraves, with glazing bars present only in the upper sashes of the first-floor windows. It has a central door with quoins and a wide segmental coach arch to the right, complete with rusticated archivolts. Nos 19 to 23 (odd) and the County Hotel form a group.
