Description
The Friars is a house dating from the 1820s and 1830s. It is constructed of ashlar, with a Scottish slate roof. The main front block has two parallel ranges projecting to the rear. The house is arranged over two storeys, with three bays to the front. A flight of three steps with railings leads to a flush-panelled front door, above which is a margined overlight. The windows are 16-pane sashes with sill bands. A dentil cornice runs along the top of the front elevation. The roof is gabled, with flat coping and banded end stacks. The rear wings echo this detailing. A pebbledashed Arts-and-Crafts style porch was added in the early 20th century to the rear of the property.
