Description
1 and 2 High Farm Cottages, along with an outbuilding to the east, are a pair of houses likely built in the early 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-18th century. The outbuilding dates from the late 18th century, while the western house was constructed around 1840. The buildings are made of stone and topped with slate roofs, standing two storeys high.
The main house features three windows; the western section is made of roughly-squared stone, while the eastern part is constructed from coursed rubble. It has a renewed central door with an overlight and late 19th-century sash windows. The door and window to the right have lintels with cut-back keystones. The western gable is coped and has rebuilt brick end stacks, with the left stack resting on an old stone base.
The western house is lower and also two storeys, featuring two windows. It is built of squared stone with ashlar dressings, and has a 20th-century glazed door to the far right. The ground floor has small-paned casements, while the upper floor has 12-pane Yorkshire sashes, all with chamfered surrounds. The gable is coped with a rebuilt brick stack to the west.
The outbuilding to the right is made of rubble stone with quoins. Its main front is blank, but the right return shows a reverse-stepped gable and a blocked first-floor window.
