Description
Nos. 53 and 55 Newgate Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They were built in the 18th century and remodeled in the early 19th century. The front is made of dressed stone, while the rear is brick, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are three storeys high and consist of three bays.
There is a central round-arched entry that leads to a passage at the back of the building, with early 20th-century shop fronts on either side. The windows are 2-pane sashes with projecting sills. The roof is gabled with flat coping and has brick stacks at each end.
At the rear, there is a two-storey wing featuring 12-pane sashes.
