Description
Forge House and the adjacent forge were built around 1850. The east bay of the forge is a later addition. The structure is made of coursed rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and tooled dressings, topped with a slate roof. The house is two storeys tall and has two bays. It features a half-glazed door in a rustic wooden porch on the far left and 9-pane sash windows. The gables are coped with moulded kneelers and have corniced end stacks. The single-storey forge to the right has two bays plus an additional bay, with 16-pane sash windows. The right gable is coped and has a louvred vent on the ridge. All openings are framed in chamfered stone surrounds with slightly projecting sills. The right side of the building shows a similar 16-pane sash window. The rear elevation has fenestration similar to the house, with two boarded doors and a 20th-century sliding door leading to the forge. Inside the forge, there is a blocked segmental arch that once led to a furnace at the west end.
