Description
The garden walls at Spital Park are a late 18th-century structure built of red brick with ashlar dressings. They form a large rectangular enclosure, featuring a main gateway at the center of the south wall, which has flush ashlar quoins. The walls stand approximately 2 meters high and are topped with ashlar coping. On the south face of the north wall, there is a painted section that indicates where a lean-to glasshouse once stood. Additionally, the north side includes lean-to potting sheds. These kitchen garden walls were constructed to supply flowers, vegetables, and fruit for The Spital and its estate.
