Description
The dovecote and adjacent pigsty, located 20 meters north of the farmhouse at Allerwash Buildings, date from the 18th century. They are constructed of rubble with tooled and margined quoins and dressings, topped with a stone slate roof. The square dovecote features a gabled roof, with the pigsty attached to its north wall. The side of the dovecote facing the farmyard has a chamfered doorway with an alternating surround and a square opening above it. The right gable contains six pigeon holes, each with an alighting ledge, while the left gable has small windows. Inside, the upper stage of the dovecote is lined with brick nesting boxes. The pigsty has a lean-to roof that rests against the wall backing onto the farmyard.
