Description

Red Lion Cottage, formerly The Red Lion public house, dates from the late 18th century. It is a two-storey, five-window building with a single-storey, two-window annexe to the west. The construction is of rubble with quoins, and the building is heavily covered in ivy. It has a steep-pitched roof with verges featuring triangular stones, and gable-end chimneys with separate stacks. The windows are glazing bar sash windows; the second window from the left on the first floor is blind. A narrow window sits above the central doorway, which has chamfered reveals, decorative surrounds, and a panelled door. A window provides light to the attic in the east gable. The west annexe has a large four-light glazing bar casement window where a coach entrance once stood, and a smaller window to the right. A small, lean-to section to the east has a glazing bar sash window.
