Description
This is a range of farm buildings located approximately 30 yards west of Akeld Manor, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The structure is built of random rubble with ashlar dressings and features a roof made of large Lakeland slates.
The building has two storeys on the right side, transitioning to a single storey due to the slope of the land. The older section on the right displays lighter horizontal tooling around raised stone surrounds. It includes four round-headed arches leading to cart sheds, two of which are now blocked and have early 19th-century boarded doors and half-shuttered windows. To the left of these arches is a stable with a two-leaf boarded door and six small windows above in the granary.
To the left, there is a higher round-headed carriage arch, which is now partly blocked and has a 19th-century door. The four stables on the left feature doors and half-slatted windows, all with early 19th-century tooled-and-margined surrounds.
