Description

The coal cell and former lime store at Norham Station, built around 1849 for the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway, is now used exclusively as a coal depot. It is constructed from snecked stone and features a Welsh slate roof.

On the right side is the lime store, which is an open shed with side walls only and a pyramidal roof. Lime was stored in a pit beneath this structure. On the left is the coal cell, which consists of a pit flanked by solid walls. The railway tracks once ran over this pit, supported by girders.
