Description
Ketton Packhorse Bridge is a packhorse bridge dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of squared sandstone with dressed voussoirs, and both faces of the bridge are similar in appearance. The bridge features a low and narrow hump-backed design, with a segmental arch that has a chamfered intrados, a raised keystone, and a wide arch band. The parapet is slightly curved and raked to either side of the apex, and it has projecting coping stones. There are added splayed end walls. At the south end of the bridge, there is a small cast-iron plaque with raised letters that reads: "KETTON ROAD ENDS." The bridge is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
