Description
This water pump and its railings, located about 5 metres north of Meridian House in Great Stainton, were constructed in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. The pump is made of cast iron and is housed in a wooden case with a gabled top. It stands 1.75 metres high and features a side handle, a downward-pointing spout, and a bucket stand. The railings create a small square space around the pump, supported by four corner posts with pyramidal caps, four strap rails, and a tubular top rail, along with a kissing gate. A broken plaque attached to the railings bears raised letters that read: "V 1887 R QUEEN'S JUBILEE T.L. TROTTER - RECTOR J. LOWES - CHURCHWARDEN J. COWLEY - OVERSEER."
