Description
St. Cuthbert's Well is a well dated 1690, constructed from coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings. It features a retaining wall with side walls that break forward and has a flat stone coping. The well has a segmental arch supported by alternate-block jambs, with a water pipe set into a rendered back panel and a stone flag basin. Above the arch, there is an inscribed stone that reads "FONS (?) S:s CUTHBERT 1690." In front of the well, there is a stone platform with side steps leading down below the platform.
