Description

The lavatorium located in the center of the cloister garth is a Grade I listed medieval structure made of Teesdale marble. Originally situated in the south-west corner of the garth, it has been resited to its current location. The lavatorium features an octagonal basin, with a raised central section that displays shields on its outer face. The lower basin has roll-topped outward-curved sides.
