Description
Factory Numbers 9, 10, and 11, known as The Forge, is a row of three houses that were once part of a cottage industry complex, built around 1800 with 20th-century alterations. The front is made of limestone rubble, while the rear is rendered brick, topped with a pantiled roof and rendered chimneys. Each house is two storeys high with three bays and features a late 20th-century central door. Number 9 has a 20th-century gabled trellis porch. The original sash windows have been replaced, but there are still some 12-pane sashes above the doorways of Nos. 9 and 10, set under old brick flat arches. The roof is hipped to the left and has three rendered chimneys. The rear wings are not of special interest. Numbers 9, 10, and 11 form the left section of a symmetrical tripartite composition and are included for their group value.
