Description
Factory Number 2, Dene Croft and Number 5 is a row of three houses that were once part of a cottage industry complex, dating from around 1800, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The front is made of limestone rubble, while the rear is constructed from brick, topped with a pantiled roof and featuring rendered chimneys. Each house has two storeys and three bays, with a central door added in the late 20th century. The original sash and casement windows have been replaced and are set under old brick flat arches, which are partly hidden by late 20th-century concrete surrounds. The roof is hipped to the right and has three ridge chimneys. Attached to the rear of No. 5 is a one-storey, three-bay wing that has had its windows replaced. Other rear wings are not of special interest. No. 2, Dene Croft and No. 5 form the right section of a symmetrical tripartite composition, are lower than the central group of three houses, and are included for their group value.
