Description
Podge Hole Bridge and Wall with Tail Race is a bridge and retaining wall featuring a mill tail race opening, located on Emms Hill Lane in South Bedburn. The structure is built from sandstone rubble using dry construction techniques, with an ashlar lintel above the tail race. The bridge has a segmental arch made of rough voussoirs, topped by hump-backed parapets that have oblique coping. The retaining wall, which is at a right angle to the southeast corner of the bridge, also features similar coping. The tail race opening is situated approximately 2 meters from the bridge, leading to the stream.
