Description

The Emerson tomb, located about 15 metres east of the Church of St. John near the south wall of the churchyard, dates from around 1737. This headstone commemorates John Emerson of Low Linge Rigg. It is made of sandstone and stands approximately half a metre high. The inscription is presented in large letters and is framed by pilasters that support a moulded bracket-shaped top.
